Mercado Sur sold well on social media, but its store loaded slowly and relied 100% on paid advertising. Every visit cost money.

The challenge

Reduce the dependence on paid advertising by getting products to show up on their own in Google, and speed up a store that was losing sales to slowness.

The solution

We migrated to a headless architecture with a Next.js frontend, keeping their catalog manager. We optimized every product and category page for SEO and cleaned up the checkout.

  • Product schema with price, stock, and reviews.
  • Categories turned into SEO landing pages.
  • Simplified checkout and local payment methods.

Key technical decisions

  • Headless with Next.js: we separated the frontend from the catalog backend, achieving an ultra-fast store without losing the management flexibility the team already knew.
  • Full catalog optimization: every product page received a unique title, description and structured data. Categories were turned into SEO landing pages with introductory copy and internal linking.
  • Redesigned checkout: we reduced cart steps, integrated local payment methods and added visible trust signals, reducing abandonment by 28%.

Results

The store began capturing organic product traffic on a sustained basis (+210%), lowered its abandonment rate (-28%) and improved conversion (+34%), easing the pressure on the ad budget. Load speed improved by 62%.
